Access control is a system which enables an authority to control access to areas and resources in a given physical facility. Access control system can be a simple system such as: a keyless entry electronic lock, a door buzzer with a request to enter for a receptionist, or a much more complicated system that controls access through multiple areas in a building, and might have numerous elements such as: intercom system, phone system, CCTV system, electric strikers, door closers/openers, door controllers, readers, control panels, software and networking capabilities and more. These access control systems are designed to bring you full-featured security solutions with a maximum tracking and monitoring capabilities to serve your needs.

An intercom is an electronic communications system within a home, an office or a building. In today’s society, an increasing demand is placed on a home or business security and an intercom system, sometimes with other elements such as: CCTV, can be the best solution for your security requirements. Intercoms are generally composed of fixed microphone/speaker units (Sub-Stations) that are capable of only initiating a call with a Master Station which are the units that can control the system, i.e., initiate a call with any of the other stations. Larger systems might connect all of the rooms in a school or hospital to a central office. The use of an intercom as a communication channel as part of an access control system is usually accompanied with other components such as: keypad, pushbutton, electric striker and automatic door opener, in order to be able to automatically authorize access to a user, after video or audio confirmation.

Some optional features for intercom systems:

  • Few units per user – allow calls from an entry to be answered from few places with stations for the same tenant. For example: a tenant with two stations in his apartment, one in the bedroom and one in the living room.
  • Entrance monitoring – users can monitor the entry areas at any time via video and audio.
  • Handset is available for privacy.
  • Push to talk function – communication to the entry panel from the user can be push to talk instead of hands free, great for noisy environments.
  • External Signaling Device – a device such as: a door buzzer, light or door bell that can be activated when the user station receives a call.
